The Cranston City Planning Commission on Dec. 2 approved an extension request for Phase 1 of Champlin Hills, a 90‑unit multifamily development, after the applicant told the commission the project has state permits and has filed its final plan.
"We are here for a, as‑of‑right, extension for phase 1 of the Champlin Hills project, which is a 90 unit multifamily development," said Dave Taglionetti of the Capionado Group. He told the commission the remaining item staff is waiting on is a sewer agreement negotiated with the city in 2015.
Taglionetti said the team has submitted the final plan and has the required state permits; he added the developer hopes to go to construction in the spring or summer of next year but that construction timing depends on multiple factors.
Commissioner Lamphere moved to grant the extension; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the request by voice vote. The chair stated "the ayes have it." No detailed roll‑call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Planning staff will continue review of the final plan and the parties said they intend to revisit the 2015 sewer agreement with the city's Department of Public Works as the next step.
