At the Dec. 2 Hopkinsville City Council meeting, public comment and mayoral remarks focused on upcoming holiday events and local community activities.
Diane Crony Turner of 26 Hardin Place invited residents to the Jefferson Environmental Center's "Christmas at the Bend," scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. She said the event will feature games, hot chocolate, hot cider and photos with Santa; "Our cost is $5 a carload," she told the council, adding that frames for photos are an additional $5.
Mayor James R. Knight Jr. congratulated recent ribbon cuttings for new businesses, praised the local Turkey Trot turnout and encouraged residents to "shop local." He also announced the Christmas parade on Dec. 13 at 5:15 p.m., with a tree-lighting ceremony soon afterward at about 7 p.m.
Those announcements closed the public-comment and mayor's-comment portions of the agenda; no formal action was taken on these items at the Dec. 2 meeting.
