Hayden — The City Council on Tuesday authorized city staff to send a letter to the Kootenai County Board of Commissioners requesting a 30-day extension of a draft addendum for law-enforcement services, moving the proposed expiration to Nov. 30, 2025.
City administration said the county considered the same request earlier in the day and staff had been working with the county’s legal staff and sheriff’s office to finalize contract language. Staff said the addendum clarifies that the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office would be responsible for contract performance while the county would carry the financial obligation.
Council approved the motion to send the extension request by roll call. Staff said the letter will be drafted and transmitted to the BOCC; the county’s support is needed for the extension to take effect.
