Council delays action on development-impact-fee advisory committee

The council voted Nov. 17 to table action on establishing a development-impact-fee program and appointing a 5–10-member advisory committee required under the Georgia Development Impact Fee Act (OCGA 36-71-1 et seq.).
Staff said the advisory committee must include 50% representation from the development, building or real-estate industries and will review the draft ordinance, fee schedule and project list before council consideration in 2026. A consultant is conducting an impact-fee study and staff asked councilmembers to submit recommended appointees by Monday the 24th to keep the consultant on schedule.
Councilmember James moved to table the item; the motion passed on a roll-call vote. Staff said if the council approves committee appointments later, staff will prepare the capital-improvements element and related documents required for fee adoption.
