Lake Elmo council updates planning for 100th birthday: flyover, fireworks, food trucks

The Blackhawks out of Saint Paul Airport indicated they cannot participate; C-130 participation is possible but awaits Federal Aviation Administration approval; and the presiding official said a contract should arrive for staff signatures to bring three Commemorative Air Force World War II aircraft, including a B-25 bomber, to perform a flyover. "At a minimum, there will be a flyover," the presiding official said, describing the anticipated centerpiece of the celebration.
Speaker 3 reported that the fireworks vendor contract has been signed and returned and that a band contract is being finalized. A planning meeting with staff, the mayor and the Rotary is scheduled for Thursday to iron out logistics; Speaker 3 said they will send a recap email to the council by the end of the week.
Council members also discussed event logistics: Speaker 4 said several food trucks are confirmed (one council member referenced five confirmed) and asked staff to confirm power and placement for food trucks on Upper 33rd. The group emphasized that communications and parking logistics will be addressed in the upcoming planning meeting.
Speaker 2 said they had not yet received a response from Senator Klobuchar regarding a request the council had made, and will notify colleagues when they hear back. The meeting record contains no formal votes on the centennial planning items; the discussion focused on contracting, vendor confirmations and next steps.
