Council approved three procurement and asset-management actions: authorization of an RFP for one new fire truck for the Ishpeming Fire Department; declaration of DPW Unit 175 (a 2015 backhaul) as surplus pending delivery of replacement equipment; and award of a contract to Lindbergh & Sons to complete skate-park restoration for $13,487.50 with competitive bidding waived.
On the fire-truck item, staff noted state funding requires Michigan-based manufacturing and asked for a quick turnaround; council authorized issuing the RFP so procurement can proceed. Regarding DPW Unit 175, council approved placing the vehicle on the surplus list and directing proceeds from its sale back into the water-and-sewer budget once a replacement arrives. For the skate park, staff said the contractor will perform restoration work and hydroseeding; council approved the local contractor and waived competitive bidding for the quoted amount.
All motions passed by voice vote. Staff will proceed with RFP issuance and equipment surplus processing according to council direction.
