Georgetown’s Police Chief Allgood asked the council to approve the department’s annual application for the Bulletproof Vest Partnership grant during the Nov. 24 meeting. The council approved the resolution by voice vote.

Chief Allgood said the grant helps the department purchase body armor for new hires and rotate out vests on a roughly 4–5 year replacement cycle. He described the program as longstanding and important to officer safety; council members voiced support and the resolution was adopted.
