Georgetown City Council approved multiple water and sewer expenditures during the Nov. 24 meeting to keep system maintenance and capital projects on schedule.
Water and sewer staff requested and the council approved a $15,900 purchase order to Lovo Incorporated for a variable frequency drive replacement at wastewater treatment plant No. 2. Chase, a water‑system staffer, said the equipment is "necessary for our treatment process and it needs to be completed ASAP," and staff said the vendor had already performed diagnostic work. The council approved the purchase by voice vote.
Council approved a $33,008.40 contract with Universal Solutions to replace a section of vitrified clay sewer pipe on Church Street where the line has deteriorated and cannot be camera‑inspected. Universal was the lowest bidder under the city's unit‑price annual contract. The council also approved a $11,600 task authorization with Hazen for four easement exhibits and related surveying work tied to the Etter Lane water line replacement; staff said Bluegrass Baptist Church agreed to cover any additional costs tied to expediting a smaller, standalone portion of the larger project. Finally, council approved a $236,172.45 pay application for Judy Construction related to ongoing wastewater construction work.
In each case the council approved the requests by voice vote; staff said project funding is in the water/sewer operating or capital budgets and that the work either resolves an immediate reliability issue or advances an in‑progress capital project.
