The Lewiston City Council on Oct. 13 approved a pair of actions tied to the Snake River Avenue roadway project (from the Southway Roundabout to 11th Avenue): a right-of-way contract and claim for payment with Federal Cartridge (ATK/Vista Outdoors) and a third supplemental professional services agreement with Horrocks Engineers and the Idaho Transportation Department.
Public Works Director Dustin Johnson said the right-of-way acquisition was necessary for planned road improvements and that the construction schedule targets next summer. He said the project is funded primarily through Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds (approximately 92.66% grant) with a 7.34% local match; materials in the packet showed the city’s local share in one line as $2,522.
Johnson also presented the third supplemental agreement with Horrocks Engineers, noting that the project has been in planning for more than a decade and that securing multiple funding sources and local match has been necessary to move construction forward. Council approved the right-of-way agreement and the supplemental engineering agreement by voice vote.
What happens next: Right-of-way work and engineering tasks will continue ahead of construction expected next summer.
