Lewiston City promotes Officer Robert Kent to corporal

At the Nov. 3 work session, Police Chief Jason Houston introduced and the council recognized Officer Robert Kent, who took the oath and was promoted to corporal after service in the U.S. Navy and prior patrol experience in Clearwater County.
Police Chief Jason Houston on Nov. 3 introduced Officer Robert Kent and the Lewiston City Council recognized his promotion to the rank of corporal.
Houston noted Kent previously served five years in the U.S. Navy as a naval engineer, earned a bachelor of science in criminal justice administration from National University, served from 2015 to 2021 with the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office and then joined Lewiston Police Department in 2021. Houston highlighted Kent's roles as a field-training officer, head taser instructor and (previously) a school resource officer and described him as a leader who has been honored for behavioral-health support work with students.
Kent came forward and repeated the oath of office, administered by a council member, and accepted congratulations from the council. The ceremonial promotion required no formal council vote.
The council paused its agenda to recognize Kent's work and thanked his family for their support.
