The Lake Oswego City Council voted 6–0 on Nov. 4 to adopt Resolution 25-45, approving the proposed 2026 solid waste and recycling rates with targeted changes to bulky-waste billing. Sustainability Program Manager Amanda Watson told council staff do not recommend an overall rate increase for Republic Services collection but recommended targeted updates, including reinstating an hourly handling fee of $114 per hour (billed in 15-minute increments) for certain bulky-waste services.
Watson said the $114-per-hour handling fee matches a prior rate sheet and reflects additional discussion with Republic Services after an earlier study session. The resolution includes that fee and a more specific rate table than the 2025 sheet.
Council voted to approve the resolution after a motion by Councilor (recorded in the transcript as Wenlund/Wenland) and a second by Councilor Afghan. Councilors briefly noted seeing Republic Services’ electric collection trucks operating in town and welcomed the technology, describing the trucks as quiet and fast.
The resolution passed unanimously, 6–0.
