Council approves parks appointment, two planning commissioners and irrigation ordinance

The Kuna City Council approved several personnel actions and an ordinance in a single meeting segment. Mayor Steers recommended Chris Wrigley as acting Parks and Recreation Fleet and Facilities Director; the council moved, seconded and approved the acting appointment by voice vote.
Doug Hansen, planning and zoning director, told the council that Chairman Dana Hennis will step down after more than 18 years of service and presented six applicants; after interviews the development services department recommended Chad Queen and Kristen Sandhu to fill planning and zoning commission vacancies. The council approved resolution R90-2025 appointing the recommended applicants.
Later in the agenda the council considered Ordinance 2025-38, which enlarges the boundaries of the Kuna municipal irrigation system to include the parcel associated with Hubbell Homes LLC, declares water rights appurtenant thereto, directs the city clerk to record the ordinance, and directs the city engineer to notify the Boise Kuna Irrigation District and the New York Irrigation District. The council waived three readings and then approved the ordinance by voice vote with all in favor.
Council members thanked outgoing commissioners for their service and welcomed the new appointees; there was no recorded opposition to the personnel appointments or the ordinance.
