Middleton commission cancels public hearing on updated transportation impact-fee schedule

At the start of its Oct. 20 meeting the Middleton Planning and Zoning Commission opened a noticed public hearing on a city-initiated amendment to add an updated Midstar transportation impact-fee capital improvement plan and fee schedule to the Comprehensive Plan appendix. Planning staff asked the commission to cancel the item because City Council scheduled a workshop in November to review connection fees and impact fees; staff asked the commission not to proceed while the council reviews the matter.
The planner said Council intends to hold a workshop on Nov. 12 to examine the fees before any further action. Commissioners agreed the request to cancel was reasonable and a formal motion to remove the item from the public hearing calendar passed unanimously.
The cancellation means the commission will not make a recommendation on the fee schedule at this meeting; council action and the outcomes of the planned November workshop were not resolved at the hearing.
