The Minot Planning Commission on Dec. 2 recommended that the City Council approve a zoning map amendment to reclassify 1920 Valley Street from C-2 (General Commercial) to M-1 (Light Industrial). The rezoning was requested by Taylor Pickard on behalf of Pickard Excavation to permit an excavation shop and associated heavy machinery.
City staff described the property as located southeast of Minot in the city's extraterritorial zoning jurisdiction and said the comprehensive plan designates the site for light industrial uses. During presentation staff said the rezoning was "mostly housekeeping" but noted the applicant plans to operate heavy equipment and that rezoning would align entitlements with the intended industrial use.
No members of the public spoke in opposition during the public hearing. Commissioner Kibler moved to approve the staff findings and recommend the zoning change to City Council; Commissioner Amick seconded. Roll-call votes were recorded and the motion carried.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for final action on the zoning map amendment.
