Council approves 2026 alcohol renewals; Brown Door license under separate review

Hammond, La. — The Hammond City Council approved the city’s list of annual alcohol‑permit renewals for 2026 on Nov. 18 and agreed to address one contested license — the Brown Door — separately at the December meeting after public testimony.
Staff explained the renewals were presented on three spreadsheets separating bars, restaurants and retail sellers. A speaker representing the Brown Door asked the council to insert into the record two letters: one from city official Casey Daigle (dated Aug. 25, 2025) and an ATC commissioner letter dated Sept. 26, 2025, describing a 90‑day state suspension with credit for time served and noting the suspension would be lifted Nov. 21.
Council directed staff to place the Brown Door on the December agenda for separate consideration so its renewal could be handled apart from the general list. On the renewals vote the council recorded Aye votes and one abstention by Councilwoman Gonzales.
