Hammond, La. — The Hammond City Council voted Nov. 18 to adopt an ordinance annexing 17400 Highway 190 East into the city’s corporate limits and zoning the property C‑H to match adjacent land.
Council read language of the final adoption citing a survey by Max Bowden Inc. dated Aug. 27, 2025, and noted the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 5–0. City staff said the annexation brings a parcel contiguous to other property owned by the same owner into Hammond and applies the same C‑H zoning classification as the adjacent parcel.
After a brief statement from an applicant representative explaining the owners’ intent to consolidate lots for possible future subdivision and uniform zoning, the council moved and voted to adopt the ordinance. Voice votes were recorded as Aye by Councilmembers Andrews, Leon, Gonzales, Divitario and Wiggs.
