The Grants Pass City Council approved a resolution to acquire 124 Northwest Midland Avenue, Suite J, a former doctor’s office, for $417,000 and directed staff to align the purchase with the existing escrow calendar.
City manager Aaron said the property is one of five tax lots adjacent to an Urban Renewal Agency-owned complex and that the building is in “relatively good shape” and could be leased until the city determines a longer-term urban renewal approach. He said the parcel is approximately 0.1 acre and that council previously directed staff to seek acquisition.
Councilor Kathleen moved to approve the resolution; Seth seconded. The council took a roll-call vote and approved the purchase unanimously. Staff said they will return with market information on potential short-term leasing and proposed rent levels.
The acquisition is intended to preserve options for an eventual urban renewal plan and does not commit the city to immediate redevelopment; staff said the property could be leased until a formal project concept is developed.
