Mayor highlights downtown growth, holiday events and employee recognition

He encouraged residents to attend the downtown Christmas tree lighting at Lookaway Inn, the Cocoa Crawl and the Dec. 7 Christmas parade.
The mayor presented Sergeant Justin Avashon of the traffic division and K‑9 Lucia as employee of the quarter, praising Avashon’s dedication both on and off duty. Assistant staff updates covered potential locations for a microchip scanning station, weekend shelter coverage arrangements with nonprofits and a contractor identified to replace a backdoor with a window at a City facility.
Councilmember Mister Radica also urged residents to help place three dogs remaining in the animal pound before the holidays.
The mayor closed by encouraging citizens to participate in downtown events and by thanking staff and residents for recent successes.
