Council proclaims 'Manassas Park Week of Gratitude' and approves appointments

The governing body on Nov. 18 proclaimed Nov. 19–25, 2025 as Manassas Park Week of Gratitude, designating daily themes for volunteer and appreciation activities, and asked residents and organizations to coordinate safe volunteer opportunities.
Mayor Alana Mensing read the proclamation, which lists November 19 as City Appreciation Day, Nov. 20 as Seniors Day, Nov. 21 as Businesses and Small Business Day, Nov. 22 as First Responders and Medical Heroes Day, Nov. 23 as Day of Fellowship, Nov. 24 as Educator Appreciation Day and Nov. 25 as Acts of Kindness Day. Community volunteer 'Miss Sunshine' and others spoke briefly about local volunteer efforts.
On the consent agenda the council approved minutes and appointed LaWanna Bryant, Rachel Kirkland and Len Tabacci to the Economic Development Authority (four-year terms expiring Nov. 18, 2029), Maria Shivik, Lori Meem and Robert Heizer to Keep the Park Beautiful (terms to Jan. 9, 2029) and Robert Heeser to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee (term to Dec. 31, 2027).
