Staff described the work: a new gravity sanitary line to an existing lift station, upsizing and construction of a new force main to serve the new Lake Elmo elementary school and provide sewer/water service to Oakland Middle School. Final assessment figures came in below preliminary estimates: the elementary preliminary sewer assessment was nearly $800,000 and came in at just over $650,000; the middle-school sanitary sewer assessment was estimated at $784,000 and came in at $644,000; water main work for Oakland was estimated at $168,000 and came in at $154,000. The school district submitted a waiver of assessments before construction.
Councilmembers commended staff and district coordination on a fast-track project serving roughly 2,000 students between the two buildings. With no public speakers present, the council adopted the resolution to approve the final assessment roll by voice vote.
