Ohio CAN briefs board on outreach and reports local decline in overdose deaths

"Ohio CAN is ... change addiction now," Ruth said, describing the group's mission to bring education, empathy and empowerment to people affected by addiction. She said the group had organized a memorial display of shoes representing those lost in Summit County and that local overdose deaths "did go down about 24 percent this last year," compared with prior counts.
Ruth said the group had provided resources for families and people in active use and emphasized a nonjudgmental approach. She invited board members to contact Ohio CAN for information or resource referrals. No funding requests or formal partnership commitments were made during the meeting.
