Council approves exterior signage for Visitor Information Center using transient lodging tax

The Northview City Council voted on Nov. 17 to approve exterior signage for the Visitor Information Center, authorizing Art Signs to fabricate and install the sign with funding drawn from transient lodging (tourism) taxes.
Staff said the new building-mounted sign will improve visibility while the larger monument-style sign with a reader board is planned separately and will be funded in part by a private partner. The council discussed lighting options; staff said internally lit letters were substantially more expensive, so the approved plan calls for additional external lighting rather than illuminated letter faces.
The motion, moved and seconded during the meeting, set the not-to-exceed amount for the project and the council approved the item by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will finalize purchase orders with Art Signs and proceed with installation.
