North Augusta, S.C. — The City Council on Nov. 17 approved Resolution 2025‑37, which adopts the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee’s recommendations for disbursing 2024–2025 accommodations‑tax revenues to local organizations.
City staff said 16 organizations applied and 15 were recommended for funding; they noted the accommodations tax is a hotel‑room tax and that state law limits eligible uses of those funds. Staff and committee members described the grant process as largely reimbursement‑based, with organizations spending funds and submitting receipts for reimbursement and with the advisory committee interviewing applicants and verifying required 50/50 matches where applicable.
Councilmembers praised the committee’s work but asked for greater pre‑vote transparency. Several members asked that application packets or summaries be provided to council members before votes so council can better understand specific projects and oversight mechanisms.
“Those materials are readily available,” staff said, and agreed to provide the application packets on request before future votes. Council proceeded to approve the advisory committee’s recommendations during the meeting.
