Council approves agenda, consent items, a planning commission reappointment and issues two proclamations

At its Oct. 9 meeting the Petoskey City Council approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda (minutes from Sept. 9 and Sept. 15, administrative receipts and the August 2025 revenue and expenditures report) on roll call votes. The consent agenda passed by recorded vote.
Council reappointed Richard Meridian to a three‑year term on the Planning Commission; the motion was moved and seconded and approved by roll call. Mayor John Murphy congratulated Meridian on the new term.
The council issued two proclamations: Mayor Murphy read a proclamation designating October 2025 as Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, noting statewide incident figures cited from the Michigan State Police report. City clerk Sarah Beck read a proclamation declaring Oct. 15, 2025 as Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day; the proclamation noted the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce represents more than 760 members and encouraged residents to support local businesses.
All votes recorded at the Oct. 9 meeting were by roll call as reflected in the meeting minutes; where votes were recorded the council adopted the items as described.
