North Platte council approves DevCo housing redevelopment resolution

The North Platte City Council on Nov. 4 adopted a resolution approving a revised redevelopment plan for the City of North Platte DevCo housing project on Lots 6–10, Mulligan Meadows Fourth Subdivision.
During a public hearing, Greg Wilke, chairman of the Community Reinvestment Authority, described the change as a “simple replat” that adds three fourplex units to the earlier plan. Gary Pearson, president of the North Platte Chamber Development Corporation, said the project combines public and private resources and described a financing package to support a 12-unit multi-family component and additional single-family lots. Pearson said the project secured what he identified as a $1,190,000 state grant and an additional $610,000 from economic partners to support the multifamily and single-family components and to seed a revolving fund for future housing rehabilitation loans.
Pearson said the plan aims to provide housing rehab and workforce housing on the city’s north side and will eventually include about 49 single-family lots plus the multi‑unit component. Council members asked about drainage rerouting included in the plan; Wilke and project supporters said schematics show proposed drainage rework. City staff reported the city engineer will continue coordinating drainage planning this winter and into spring.
After closing public comment, Councilmember (motion recorded in the minutes) moved to adopt the resolution as presented; the motion was seconded and carried. The resolution authorizes adoption of the revised DevCo Housing Redevelopment Plan and related actions described in council materials. Next steps noted by staff include engineering follow-up on drainage and finalization of financing documents.
Council materials distributed at the meeting list the redevelopment plan and related exhibits. The council’s formal action allows city staff and the mayor to execute documents necessary to implement the redevelopment plan.
