Leon Valley adopts 2026 meeting calendar, cancels four regular meetings and will call special sessions as needed

The City Council reviewed and adopted the city’s 2026 meeting calendar on Nov. 4, approving several scheduled cancellations to allow staff and members planned breaks and to avoid conflicts with community events.
City Secretary Saunder Pasley presented the proposed calendar and flagged potential conflicts including the holiday period in early January and National Night Out in October. After discussion, Councilor Mersch moved (seconded by Councilor Campos) to adopt the calendar with four cancellations: Jan. 6, June 16, July 7 and Oct. 6. The motion carried by voice vote.
Council members and the manager noted that cancelling scheduled meetings does not preclude calling special meetings when business requires it; staff emphasized a need to post meetings in accordance with open-meeting law timelines when special meetings are needed.
Next steps: staff posted the updated calendar to the city website and will publish calendar changes in city communications; council asked staff to remain flexible to call workshops or special meetings for time-sensitive items.
