Resident urges Pueblo to enforce rules against bulky items left on sidewalks

During council updates, Kelsey Florek told councilors she has noticed people leaving couches and bedroom sets on sidewalks or in yards with the expectation someone will remove them. "There seems to be a proliferation of people that believe that if they throw a couch or a bedroom set out in the middle of the sidewalk in their yard, that somebody's gonna miraculously pick it up," Florek said, and she asked staff to check whether the municipal code provides a remedy.
Unidentified staff responded that the office forwards reports to Code Enforcement and that there are legal limits — including rules tied to evictions — about when personal property may be removed from sidewalks. Staff invited Florek and other residents to forward specific cases so staff can coordinate with Code Enforcement.
