Pharr City Commission approves utility easement closures, event regulations and routine resolutions

The commission also approved first readings to amend administrative approval requirements for run/walk events and for open-air events (items 7c and 7d), all by voice votes after motions and seconds.
Resolutions adopted included declaring surplus items and equipment and authorizing their sale, and allowing participation with Choice Partners for cooperative purchases and services (items 7e and 7f). The commission also approved a resolution designating Amanda Puryear L. as the City of Pharr's first poet laureate; Puryear introduced herself and noted her local ties and planned library ceremony.
During the consent agenda, the commission removed item 6d from the consent list and voted to table item 16; after those changes the consent agenda was approved by a single motion. The commission also approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Westlake for animal shelter services (item 8a).
