The City of Post Falls has accepted a $1,250,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant for phase one of the quarry park, parks planner Robbie Quinn told the Nov. 25 commission. The grant will fund two multiuse fields, a restroom/shelter building, an entry plaza, a large parking lot and a maintenance yard; alternates in the bid package include a playground and sports courts.
Quinn said design plans are about 90% complete, permit reviews are under way (typical comment turnaround about three weeks), bidding is expected in February 2026 and construction is targeted to start in March–April 2026 with an anticipated ten-month construction window. Quinn said the city accepted the LWCF award earlier in November and that council has approved continuing design work.
Quinn also provided updates on the Montreal Sports Complex (parking ~90% complete, fields at infill stage; major electrical work to continue in winter with site work resuming in spring) and Black Bay (boardwalk and decking largely installed; final panels on order; contractor expected back for final installation with completion likely mid-December). No new funding questions were raised at the meeting.
