Prior Creek council OKs $30,000 reallocation to buy restroom building at tennis courts

The Prior Creek City Council voted to reallocate $30,000 from the park capital outlay account to buy a prefabricated restroom/storage building for the city’s tennis and pickleball courts.
Mayor told the council the existing restrooms are outdated and not user-friendly, and he recommended purchasing a 20-by-42-by-10 building from Mueller Metals after receiving three quotes. “From that January till May, we've got a little over 10,000 visits to that site,” the mayor said, citing Placer AI visitation data to underscore demand.
The project drew broad community support: the mayor said local businesses and residents pledged in-kind work and monetary donations, including a $5,000 contribution with a conditional pledge for another $5,000 if the community raised $15,000. Electrical contractors have offered to donate wiring, and demolition and plumbing help has been pledged.
Councilmember Bradshaw moved and Councilmember Brown seconded the motion to proceed; members amended the motion on the floor to specify Mueller Metals as the preferred vendor and approved the expenditure by voice vote. The mayor said the building is expected to ship in five to six weeks and he hopes for a 90-day window to have functioning restrooms before next tennis season.
The mayor and staff said the reallocated funds were already in the parks capital account and had been earmarked to pursue a separate funding opportunity for playground equipment; the council said it will continue pursuing larger grant options for playgrounds while moving forward on the restroom project.
