The Passaic City Council's Oct. 22 meeting covered routine municipal business, scheduling of ordinances and a series of community announcements.
The council approved communications items, routine agenda items and payment of bills by roll-call votes. Council also introduced three ordinances: No. 37, adopting a redevelopment plan for Blocks 3212 Lots 21 and 23 at 91–95 Paulson Avenue (second and final reading set for Dec. 2); No. 38, amending restricted disabled parking by New Jersey license-plate number (second reading set for Nov. 6); and No. 39, adding a bus-stop location on Lexington Avenue (second reading set for Nov. 6). All motions to set second readings carried by unanimous roll-call votes.
In the mayor's announcements, officials reminded the public that early voting runs Oct. 25–Nov. 2 at designated county sites including Passaic City Hall, and that Election Day is Nov. 4 with polls open 6AM–8PM. The mayor also cautioned that state funds currently cover SNAP through Oct. 31 and WIC through Nov. 10, 2025, but that 2026 funding is uncertain if the federal government remains shut down, and said the city is exploring partnerships and contingency plans to meet resident needs.
There were no requests for closed executive session. The council adjourned after taking the listed votes and setting future calendar dates.
