City reports weekend cleanup and police activity; Waste Connections discount announced

Brian McCain said the city hosted 89 roll‑offs (64 at the State Fairgrounds and 25 at CSU Pueblo), collecting roughly 161 tons of material and serving about 1,100 residents across sites; staff distributed 66 vouchers that are valid through Saturday, Oct. 25. The city is partnering with Waste Connections for fall cleanup discount days from Oct. 20 through Nov. 1 that offer 50% discounts for city residents at the Waste Connections Southside Landfill (loads must be covered/secured; hours listed by staff).
On public safety, staff reported that patrol handled about 2,699 calls for service for the week of Oct. 9–15, including loitering citations, municipal warrant arrests, recovered stolen property and assistance to code enforcement with search warrants. Officers issued citations, made traffic stops, and responded to disturbances across multiple beats; staff urged residents to avoid leaving vehicles unattended and running during morning warm‑up periods as winter approaches.
Events and community programming were also listed: a trunk‑or‑treat at El Centro (Oct. weekend) and a City Hall 'touch a truck' and indoor trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 31.
