The North Platte Planning Commission on Nov. 25 recommended approval of an amendment to Lakeside Campground Holding Company LLC’s conditional-use permit to allow four additional recreational-vehicle storage buildings at 300 Hadley Drive (file CU25-007). Planning staff said the additional buildings would primarily serve RV storage, pose little impact on the commercial character of the area, and could increase assessed value.

Staff said the conditional use originally approved in October 2022 allowed two storage buildings; the applicant seeks four more. Planning staff indicated no objection to the amendment and the applicant was present. Commissioners discussed aesthetics and the view for campers; one commissioner said storage structures could block Interstate views for campers while another noted frequent campers appreciated the reduction in noise.

Commissioner Bain moved to recommend approval with conditions that all elements of the application be met and that the use conform with North Platte code; Jet seconded and the commission recommended approval. Planning staff said the item will go to City Council on Dec. 2.

Next steps: The recommendation will be forwarded to City Council for final action on the conditional-use amendment.
