Middleton council approves consent agenda, 2026 meeting dates and waives parade fees; introduces new K-9
Summary
The Middleton City Council approved routine consent items, adopted its regular 2026 meeting schedule (first and third Wednesdays except Jan. 6), waived fees for the Middleton Chamber Christmas Parade, and staff introduced a newly donated police K-9 named Fury.
Council approved a multi-item consent agenda that included approval of minutes (Nov. 5 and Nov. 12 special meeting), ratifying payroll Nov. 14, accounts payable through Nov. 7, and referenced prior actions on the FCO for 702 Boise Street (Higginson property rezone). The consent agenda was moved, seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The council then approved the regular public meeting dates for council and planning and zoning in 2026, adopting a first-and-third-Wednesday schedule with the first January meeting moved to Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, to accommodate availability.
The council also approved a special event permit and waived fees for the Middleton Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade by motion and voice vote.
Separately, staff introduced a newly acquired police canine, "Fury," described as a 5-year-old dog certified in light and drug detection with Officer Duffy identified as the canine handler. Council members reacted briefly and welcomed the K-9.
Outcome: Routine administrative and event items were approved and carry normal follow-up for scheduling and event coordination.
