At its meeting, the Valley Center City Council took several procedural and personnel actions.

The council voted to approve routine items including the meeting agenda and minutes for Nov. 18 and the Nov. 24 special meeting, and it approved the consent agenda. The council approved Resolution 805-25, an annual action to continue using a modified cash-basis approach to accounting (an AP waiver) for the coming year.

The council recessed into executive session under KSA 75-4319(b) to discuss a nonelected personnel matter for 10 minutes with limited participants present. After returning to open session, council members approved formation of a negotiating committee to begin talks with a potential city administrator; the committee will include Mayor Truman, Christy (first name in transcript), the moving council member and Clint Miller.

Why it matters: The negotiating committee signals the initiation of personnel negotiations for a new city administrator and the annual AP waiver confirms the city’s accounting approach for the next year.
