Summary
Two public commenters urged the council to back a nature play space and to adopt pre-budget ‘budget deliberation sessions’ to increase transparency and public participation in budgeting decisions.
Two residents addressed the council during the public-comment period.
Lindsey Brown thanked the council for support on a proposed nature play space and urged leaders to back the project, saying it would provide physical, mental and social benefits for children and boost tourism. "I'm excited for this opportunity to bring a nature play play space to our city," Brown said. She thanked volunteers and supporters who worked on the project over five to six years and asked the council to continue toward implementation.
Another commenter, Priyana, asked the council to institute structured pre-budget "budget deliberation sessions" so residents, department heads and elected officials could examine revenues and cost drivers before the budget is finalized. Priyana said these sessions would promote transparency and help reduce later conflicts during annual budget hearings by allowing earlier public input on priorities and trade-offs.
Both speakers called for more inclusion in fiscal planning. The council did not take formal action on either request during the meeting; both requests were entered into the public record for future consideration.
