Tehachapi staff outline busy holiday calendar; Breast Cancer Awareness walk raised $3,000

Jessica reported on October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities: the city proclaimed the month, hosted a walk and health fair at Railroad Park on Oct. 11 with more than 100 participants, and welcomed several health partner organizations. The city sold roughly 150 special-edition pink-ribbon hats at about $20 each, raising approximately $3,000; staff said those proceeds will be split between the Tehachapi Cancer Foundation and Adventist Health AIS Cancer Center.
Staff then reviewed the holiday schedule: a Christmas tree and a weekend 'snowfall' display will begin at the Depot Museum on Nov. 19 (weekends) and move to nightly shows Dec. 19–28; a free "snow globe" family experience will start the week of Nov. 24 at Railroad Park; the Reindeer Rush scavenger hunt runs Nov. 29–Jan. 5 with 41 businesses signed up (up from 28 last year), and Hometown Christmas is set for Dec. 6 (noon–4 p.m.) with live performances and a footprint expanded along Green Street. The Greater Tehachapi Chamber Christmas Parade is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.; staff noted new safety bollards installed on the parade route this year.
