Police, Syracuse University say two cameras not operational; council to revoke authorization

Deputy Chief Mark Russin of the Syracuse Police Department told the council that Syracuse University's Department of Public Safety had informed him the two contested cameras were not installed and therefore were not capturing license-plate data.
"Those two cameras are not installed right now, so they're not they're not running any license plates at this point," Russin said. He added that the university had "no objection to us revoking" the cameras and that revocation would "not impact our operations."
