The Hopewell City Council approved a motion allowing Councilor Harris to participate remotely during the special meeting after Harris said he was at home for medical reasons.
Vice Mayor Joyner moved the motion and Councilor Day seconded. Councilor Harris told the council, "I'm from home, and I'm here because of medical reasons ... Well, my therapy session is on Thursday." During the subsequent roll call for the motion, the clerk recorded Vice Mayor Joyner, Mayor Parker, Councilor Ellis, Councilor Day and Councilor Rapalik as voting yes; Councilor Harris was recorded in the roll as "Abstain in." The clerk announced the motion passed.
The council proceeded with its scheduled agenda after approving the remote participation request.
