Westminster issues proclamations honoring veterans, Small Business Saturday and Kindness Week

At the start of the meeting the council heard a proclamation from the Veterans Independence Project recognizing Dr. Mona Becker for service to local veterans. Jason Steinhardt, identified as the executive director of the veterans nonprofit, read the proclamation and thanked the council for ongoing support, saying the efforts "are for the veterans."
Council members also adopted proclamations recognizing Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29, 2025 and declaring Kindness Week Worldwide for Nov. 8–15, 2025. A representative of the Kindness Week group described plans for school-based and community activities, saying their goal is for "every sixth grader in the state of Maryland every year paints and be kind." Mayor Dr. Mona Becker and council members accepted the proclamations and spoke about partnership opportunities with local events and organizations.
Speakers praised downtown holiday preparations and the city's support for nonprofit and small business efforts, and thanked staff and volunteers who helped with recent events such as the Veterans Day parade and the Wakefield Valley opening. Several presenters emphasized that proclamations acknowledge community partners but do not in themselves create new city policy.
