McDaniel College tells Westminster council about reopened track, Parent Weekend and new legacy scholarships

Benevento and McDaniel’s leadership also provided an early notice that the college will announce new legacy scholarships aimed at the children or dependents of first responders, health-care professionals and government employees; applications will open for students starting in fall 2026. Benevento described the scholarship package’s value as “up to $132,000 over four years,” intended to help defray college costs.
Council members and attendees were told that the college will issue an official press release the following day with full details and application timelines. The presentation emphasized the college’s ongoing community ties — McDaniel plans campus receptions that will include representatives from downtown business groups.
The college’s announcements were presented as information to the council; no formal council action on the items was recorded during the meeting. The council thanked the McDaniel representatives and the meeting proceeded to other agenda items.
