Director reports strong usage, Libby record and completed carpet project at West Fargo Library

At the Oct. 9 West Fargo Library Board meeting, Director Jenna delivered a report showing strong usage across library services and highlighted a recently completed carpet project at the main branch.
Jenna said the library is 67% expended year to date and reported 213 new library cards in September. She called attention to the library’s electronic circulation via the Libby app: September recorded about 7,200 checkouts, the highest single-month total in the library’s records. Jenna confirmed West Fargo participates in the State Library consortium for Libby and explained e-audiobook licensing and publisher terms can vary significantly by title.
Staffing and facilities remarks focused on a major carpet replacement at the main library, which required moving collections temporarily. Jenna praised staff members Bree and Alicia for coordinating the work with contractors and said the rearranged shelving meets ADA spacing requirements. She also reported the satellite location at City Hall continues to perform well and that meeting-room reservations exceeded 75 hours in September, the highest use this year.
Outreach highlights included 255 outreach circulations (senior home, daycare deliveries and events), participation in a library-card sign-up event and a fall reading challenge with about 800 Heritage Middle School students taking part. Upcoming events include an escape-room program, a new K–3 book-explorer series and the Friends of the Library used book sale on Oct. 11.
Jenna invited board questions and said staff will continue monitoring circulation and space needs and will pursue options to meet meeting-room demand as part of the library’s strategic planning.
