City administrator outlines transit coordination, ERP RFP and policy work

City Administrator Dustin Scott gave the commission an update on transportation and administrative projects at the Nov. 3 meeting.

Scott said staff have begun compiling information to present the transit development plan and how West Fargo’s relationships with Fargo Transit and Metro COG intersect. He said the materials will include route context and suggested commission-facing, user-focused information such as typical trip times and options for common destinations. Scott said Fargo Transit staff have indicated willingness to come before the commission to share details.

On administrative systems, Scott said Finance Director Willie and staff had circulated an updated draft RFP for a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and that staff plan to bring the RFP to the Nov. 17 commission meeting for approval to advertise. The administrator said two commissioners will be invited to participate in the vendor selection process once the RFP is issued. Scott also reported the city’s policy work on leave and special-pay items is continuing and staff plan to present drafts to the commission when ready.

Scott’s updates prompted a request from Commissioner Zundell that staff provide route-level, user-focused examples (for instance, how a West Fargo rider would reach major regional destinations) to help the public and commissioners evaluate options. Scott and planning staff agreed to include that material in the upcoming briefing.

The commission received these updates as part of the administrator’s report; no formal vote was required.
