WAGONER, Okla. — The Wagoner Public Works Authority on Oct. 6 approved replacement of a 100-horsepower backwash pump at the Widener Water Treatment Plant after staff told members that repair carried only a 90-day warranty while replacement included a two-year warranty.
Staff presented two options: repair for approximately $38,000 with a 90-day warranty, or replacement for approximately $101,000 with a two-year warranty. WPWA members and staff discussed budget constraints, possible reallocation of funds and use of internal accounts; staff recommended replacement, citing the pump’s age (12 years) and the longer warranty on a new unit.
After discussion about available funds and the need to avoid repeated repairs, the authority voted to approve the replacement and recorded a roll-call vote in the WPWA meeting minutes. Members instructed staff to identify funding sources and proceed with procurement and installation.
The authority also approved routine claims, insurance purchases and other project payments during the WPWA meeting. The Widener pump decision is the most significant capital action taken during the session and will require follow-up procurement and scheduling by Public Works staff.
