Council discussed historic unmarked graves in older sections and staff referenced state authority that permits municipalities to reclaim unused plots after a long inactive period (discussed as approximately 75 years in meeting remarks). Council asked staff to explore mapping or technology to identify any unmarked graves before repurposing areas.
Council voted to approve the fee amendments and asked staff to return a final communication plan for property owners on the waiting list and any necessary administrative steps. The item passed on a roll call vote recorded in the meeting minutes.
