The Village of Saint Charles police reported seven arrests during the past month and about 91 reports, many of which were assistance, inspections or permit-related rather than indications of a crime spike. The department recorded roughly 360 total activities, 60 traffic stops and 18 citations for the period referenced.
Police described a mutual-aid response to a high-speed mini-bike incident. Officers assisting a neighboring jurisdiction observed two mini bikes that initially failed to stop; one stopped, and the other eluded immediate capture but was later identified via video footage. The officer credited the footage with a clear facial view, and officers moved to swear a warrant for the suspect for follow-up processing.
The department characterized the increase in reports as partly administrative (multiple charges or reports associated with single incidents) and emphasized ongoing efforts to clear older warrants. No updated crime-trend analysis or formal policy changes were announced at the meeting; council members had the opportunity to ask clarifying questions about the incident and about report-count methodology.
