Clay County commissioners approved amended detention-service contracts with Lincoln and Turner counties and heard an operations update from jail leadership.
S5 explained the contract language adjusts rates: Lincoln and Turner Counties will be maintained at $70 per day through the rest of the year, with the rate changing to $90 per day on Jan. 1; other counties will be set to $90 on Jan. 1 as well. S4 moved to approve the Lincoln County Adult Detention Services contract (and to approve the Turner contract in the same motion); S2 seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
On operations, S5 reported the facility currently had about 10 inmates in-house and anticipated taking Lincoln County inmates later in the week; staff noted that with inmates in place some minor bugs in the new facility remain to be resolved, and a small number of jailers remain in field-training status.
The contract approvals were procedural: staff will forward amended contracts to the respective counties for their approval prior to Jan. 1 where required.
