Jeffrey said the parcel is the open grassy area near the woods and the gazebo and estimated its size as "between 1 and a half and 2 acres." He described an offer to the tenant that would make the first lease year rent-free to allow for land improvements and planting, with the second-year rent to match the county's existing farm rate of $312 per acre.
Staff emphasized they would not remove the gazebo or apple tree and that the crop boundary would not move closer to the road than current boundaries. Commissioners framed the plan as a cost-saving measure to avoid recurring mowing expenses and said they would formalize the lease details and sign a two-year renewal for farm ground including the additional area.
