West Fargo — City Administrator Dustin Scott presented updates to the municipal military leave policy and the commission voted to approve the revisions.

Scott said the policy, originally approved on Oct. 20, required additional review after implementation in the Lexipol system. He said staff and the city attorney revised the policy “to ensure full alignment with the North Dakota Century Code as well as [the] Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.”

Scott summarized the changes as clarifying federal and state military leave requirements, refining notice and return-to-work language, and adding tables that show how military leave hours are calculated. Commissioner Olsen moved to approve the revised policy as presented; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

The revised policy will be incorporated into the city’s Lexipol system and staff will implement the updated procedures for affected employees.
