West Fargo approves $135,808 award to replace transfer-station scale

Matt Anvichter, Senior Director of Public Works, told the commission the transfer station scale has been in service about 27 years and repeatedly required repairs. Project 9061 included $150,000 in budget estimates for the replacement; staff solicited bids and received two responses. Anvichter recommended awarding Prairie Scales for $135,808.
Anvichter said the scale is used to weigh incoming loads for contractors and businesses (averaging about 200–300 'away' tickets per month) and that funding will come from a combination of SRF loans and city funds allocated within Project 9061. If approved, he said construction would be scheduled for spring 2026 and take approximately two to three weeks on site.
Commissioner Olson moved to approve the award and Commissioner Zundell seconded; the commission approved the expenditure by voice vote.
